Rent or Buy Caribbean Real Estate

Buying a condo in the Caribbean can be very expensive, and largely depends where you want to buy it. The U.S. Virgin Islands are a popular option for Americans, largely because of the benefits of living under the American flag with a warmer climate and totally different lifestyle. However, these benefits come at a price and buying a home here can be very pricey.

If you want to purchase a small condo in the U.S. Virgin Islands you can expect to pay from $200,000 upwards. Buying a house on the other hand will set you back not much less than $1 million at a minimum. In Barbados the median price for a Caribbean condo is $566,000 – however you can purchase a home for much less and significantly more if you look around.

If you want to purchase a condo in Puerto Rico, you can get one for as little as $90,000 on one of the more isolated islands. If you want to be on the main island in a beachside location you can expect to pay a minimum of $200,000.

Renting a Caribbean Condo

Not all of us are fortunate enough to be able to afford our own Caribbean condo – or perhaps we are just not ready to make that commitment. Renting a Caribbean condo is a great option and a perfect alternative to staying in a hotel during your next holiday to the Caribbean. Renting a condo can mean that your vacation or time in the Caribbean is much more personal than staying in a hotel. It’s like a home away from home.
Renting a Caribbean condo is very easy, and there are a huge range of condos available on whatever island you choose to stay on. Prices vary depending on the location and size of the condo, with beachside locations on popular islands the most expensive – and more secluded destinations and non-beachside condos the cheapest. A 3-bedroom beachside luxury condo in Anguilla, for example, will set you back approximately $1,600 per week.

There are many ways you can rent a Caribbean condo. There are plenty of businesses that specialize in holiday rentals in the Caribbean that are based in the USA and other countries around the world. The internet is also a fantastic resource when it comes to renting a Caribbean condo, and there are dozens of websites that have listings of rental homes available with descriptions and photos. You can literally organize the whole thing in the comfort of your own home.
